UNPACK This...Gleaning From G.O.A.T.sSample
The Mind Of Manning
Peyton Manning is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. In addition to winning two Super Bowl trophies, his stats and records are legendary, and he earned the respect of almost everyone who watched him play.
Manning's mind was what made him stand out as a player. He was a true thinker about the game, which allowed him to play at such a high level for so long.
Manning was notorious for using audibles to change play calls at the line of scrimmage. He was so intelligent that he could quickly process ridiculous amounts of information to get his team into the best situation to bring success. It was a talent and skill respected by all but could be emulated by very few.
As sports fans, we notice and credit the physically imposing athletes; however, we can easily overlook the brilliance of players and their extraordinary minds.
As followers of Jesus, we shouldn't overlook how important our mind is in our relationship with God.
The Bible says in Mark 12:30, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
One way we glorify God is through our minds. Thinking the right thoughts brings glory to God and helps us become more like Him.
Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
Using our mind is vital to loving God and following Jesus. So, what are we thinking about? How do we use our minds? Are we seeking wisdom? Are we meditating on His Word? Are we using our minds to understand God and study His character?
Today, let's challenge ourselves to fill our minds with what pleases and glorifies God.
I'm Bryce Johnson, and you can UNPACK that!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please help me to glorify You with my thoughts. Help me to think about things that are good and appropriate so that I might live a life of obedience before You. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
