Love Beyond Mediocrity:
Marriage, like any relationship, has its highs and lows. But amid the challenges, there's a profound truth: we are loved beyond our mediocrity. This study will explore how God's love sustains us through the trials and triumphs of married life.
God’s greatest purpose for creating marriage is to show the world an earthly representation of what Christ’s covenant relationship looks like with His Church. A few basic fundamentals of a strong marriage have been emphasized in this chapter. Qualities of unconditional love, respect, and honor, with both husband and wife fully surrendered to Jesus Christ, will cause your relationship to flourish.
Yet, our culture’s representation of marriage is poorly patched together from personal unhealthy experiences and past trauma that do not reflect a godly, wholesome perspective. I longed for our marriage to be a spectacular union because marriage was created by God Himself. Approaching marriage with a selfless heart and gospel lens is the key to building a beautiful, Christ-exalting relationship.
Feelings are frivolous and unreliable. They can change with the wind. The feeling you had when you first married isn’t always going to be present, but you just stick with it. Commitment requires diligence and perseverance that will allow you not only to survive but to excel and thrive in your relationship. Let your roots grow deep in Christ and your heart be fertile soil where God’s Word will establish and sustain you. May your passion for Him overflow into your marriage relationship. Marriage is both wonderful and challenging. “Two are better than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, NLT).
Do you love your spouse beyond their mediocrity? Love beyond mediocrity is to love one another as Christ loves you. Unconditionally, always, and forever.
