You Are an Heir of All Things:
The Greek word for “all” is πᾶς (pas). It is a measurement of all, the whole, and every kind of.

All means all—not some, not the things we have to earn—ALL. God has given us all things in order for us to thrive. It is complete and just waiting for you to discover as you walk through life in Him. In Christ, we experience the fullness of God’s love, gifts, and blessings for His glory.

Do you ever worry that because of your failures, God will hold something back from you? Are you afraid that God is keeping part of Himself back as a punishment to you? Have you been taught that God will bless you more as you give more to Him? Or maybe that God is only near to those who live perfect lives and never mess up? Those are all complete lies that the enemy would want us to believe.

God doesn't hold anything back from those who are His. In His grace, He has given us all the blessings of His kingdom and made us daughters and sons of the King. We are heirs with Jesus to all that God is and all that God has. He gives Himself to us fully. He gives us His time, His attention, His mercy, and His love. He knows the true needs of our hearts, and all He asks of us is that we trust Him. He is quick to provide us with wisdom, comfort, peace, and security.

God doesn’t let us face trials in life to punish us. We will still experience hardship and suffering, but God is faithful to use those things to shape us into the image of Jesus. God doesn’t abandon us in our sickness, hurt, or difficulty. He enters into it with us and redeems it for our good. Just like some means a few or part of a whole, all means ALL. While God may delay our desires coming to pass, He is the only one who truly knows both what we need and what we don’t need. He gives us all things in time, but all things are only those things we truly need—so we don’t have a license to do whatever we want. What you and I want is what God desires to give us. A misapprehension of “all things” can harm us if we take it too far or try to use God to achieve things that lead to our destruction. God, being a loving Father, knows what we need:

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. —Matthew 6:31-35 (ESV)

Having recently become grandparents, my wife and I have a renewed sense of how God views us. When we are with our grandchildren, our only sense is delight—complete and utter delight. We love to watch them, follow them around, and are completely taken with how each day brings something new to them. God is no different in how He sees us. We would never withhold any good thing from our children or grandchildren; we only want them to thrive. Why would we think God is any different? So relax, and allow God to do with you what He wills because it is all you need.

Titus 3:7 (NASB): “So that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Romans 8:17 (NASB): “And if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.”
