Walking With GodSample
Walking with God
This might seem insultingly obvious, but “walking with God” implies walking with God. It means choosing the path that God is on, joining him on the narrow and rarely traveled road of righteousness. In a world that runs after short-term pleasure, Jesus urges us to “seek first” the things that last forever by walking with God (Matthew 6:33). I won’t lie. It’s not the easiest direction to choose. But I can promise you that this direction leads to a glorious destination.
My family hiked the Hidden Lake Trail at Glacier National Park one summer. It wasn’t an easy path, climbing a few hundred feet over a couple of miles and still snow-covered in certain spots despite being late June. But when we reached the end of the trail, none of us regretted our chosen path. Beautiful Bearhat Mountain towered above Hidden Lake with its deep, glacial blue water. We were wowed and tried to capture God’s glory with our man-made devices.
I imagine your Christian life, like mine, has not been easy all the time. Trusting God when you have cancer. Denying a desire within you. Loving someone who is nearly impossible to love. But please remember that the Christian direction leads to the best destination, a heaven that will make Hidden Lake look lame, a place St. Paul called “surpassingly great” (2 Corinthians 12:7).
Keep walking with God. You are one day and one step closer to your glorious destination!
