Start Strong
As a young adult, your life is full of change and new beginnings. Whether you’re living on your own for the first time, graduating from college, or stepping into a new job or internship, chances are your life looks pretty different now than it did a few years ago. And if all of that newness ever feels intimidating or scary, know this: You’re not the only young adult who feels that way.
Jeremiah would have understood how you feel. The Bible tells us that at a young age, Jeremiah was called to be God’s prophet to the nations. But he felt majorly unqualified. When God told Jeremiah about His plans, Jeremiah told God:
“O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” Jeremiah 1:6 NLT
But Jeremiah underestimated himself. If you keep reading the book of Jeremiah, you’ll see that God equipped him, again and again, to pursue his calling. And even though Jeremiah faced a lot of opposition in his life, he succeeded in doing great things for the Lord.
God’s calling you, too. And as you enter into this new season of life, there are practical things you can do to help you become more like Jesus and make an impact on the world around you. Over the next four days, we’ll take a look at:
- Building a strong foundation
- Embracing discomfort
- Finding godly confidence
- Taking risks
Until tomorrow, spend some time thinking about what God has called you to do, right here and right now. Then pray a prayer like this one:
Prayer: Father, thank You for the immense love You have for me. Thank You for giving my life purpose. Will You help me draw closer to You and start this new season of life well? I love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
