Each One Reach One

DAY 3 OF 5

Going Out of Our Way

With that mindset, it didn’t take me long to discover that when people are desperate, they will reach out for something or someone to hold on to. Countless times, I have asked a stranger how they were doing, and they opened up to me. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the love of Jesus, I just took a little time to care.

Maybe you are facing a critical place in your journey where you feel compelled to be more intentional concerning your faith. Or maybe you have had opportunities to share your faith but fear won out and you chose to say nothing. It could be that you are sharing the gospel with others but you’re not seeing the results you hoped to see.

Shining your light doesn’t mean you’ll grab a megaphone and preach a sermon, although God calls some to do that. But it does mean you will go out of your way more often to be a blessing to strangers. You will become more intentional about sharing the gospel with your neighbors.

It also means you will take the liberty to tell someone about the Lord while standing in line at the pharmacy or the grocery store checkout lane. Instead of being abrupt, irritated, or curt, you may find the opportunity to be a little more thoughtful to the customer service agent after you’ve waited on the phone for too long, listening to that annoying hold music. It means you will make it a practice to look people in the eye and ask how they are doing.

You may even be called upon to step out of your comfort zone and be “strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:9) as you offer to pray for someone in the doctor’s office waiting room or airport gate area. Some may see these moments as interruptions or inconveniences. But I’ve found that every unexpected opportunity and every people encounter is a divine setup, presenting us with the opportunity to share the love of Christ with someone who is lost, hurting, or discouraged. With all my heart, I believe your own God encounters are on their way!

Keep a record of your God-stories. Write them down in detail. Then review them from time to time to encourage yourself in the Lord. Share your testimonies with friends or on social media. Get the word out that Jesus is the light of the world.

About this Plan

Each One Reach One

God made us to be light in a dark and confusing world. Our insecurities or false ideas of what “witnessing” means sometimes make us forget that sharing God’s light is a joy, not a burden. Babbie Mason reminds us that God offers us natural opportunities every day to point people to His gospel hope. Find inspiration here for lifting the light of the gospel higher than ever before.
