God's Redemption Story (The Prophets)Sample
Jeremiah Week 3 – Day 3
Jeremiah 38 and 39 tell the story of two men who obeyed God despite their enemies. As a prophet of God, Jeremiah spoke the words God told him to say. When the king and the officers didn’t like his message, they threw him in a muddy cistern. But his message didn’t change. When Ebed-Melech found out Jeremiah was in the cistern, he gained permission to get Jeremiah out and saved his life. God saw their obedience and rewarded them, big time. When Jerusalem was destroyed by the Chaldeans, Jeremiah and Ebed-Melech were spared and given their freedom.
Obedience to God can come with a big price tag in the moment, but the ultimate reward is freedom and life. Where is God calling you to obedience today? Look beyond the immediate struggle to the greater reward of life in Christ.
