One of the great delights of springtime is seeing the snow melt, the flowers blossom, and the birds sing. Springtime signals that winter is gone. The Bible uses similar language to describe life when God restores the earth to its original glory. Isaiah 35 describes the return of ancient Israel from exile, but many Bible scholars also see in this a picture of all God's redeemed people. God assured Abraham that He would bless all the people of the earth through Abraham's seed. The patriarch's physical children broke God's covenant and this brought God's punishment. But God did not abandon them nor cancel His covenant with Abraham. Rather, God promised to restore His people, and fulfill His promise to bless the entire human race through Abraham's seed. Jesus the Messiah is the seed of Abraham. Through Christ, God offers eternal salvation to all who accept God's Son as their Savior. God's salvation is like springtime after winter. To those who accept Jesus Christ, God imparts His own life. God gives them the capacity to live productive lives here on earth, and guarantees a blessed hope for their future. God's people invite others to accept His offer of love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We promote righteousness and justice here on earth. We do it because we know it helps to fulfill God's purpose for the people He created.
