Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 262 OF 365

Dr. Merrill Tenney once called Matthew 18 the Children’s Charter of Liberty. He called it that because in chapter 18, Jesus declared that children play a vital role in the kingdom of God. Jesus said, not only must we become as children—humble and trusting—in order to enter His kingdom, but any one who causes a child to stumble incurs the wrath of God. Here are Jesus' words: “I tell you the truth, unless you become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.” To our shame, adults abuse thousands of children for sex and slavery in our country, and millions more around the world. Not only must God’s people work to reduce this abuse worldwide, we must redouble our efforts to bring children to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Unless we focus on children, we may never bring our fading culture back from the cliff of no return.
