Let’s focus on new life again today. The story of the woman echoes a beautiful picture of the blood of Jesus, as theologian Janet Soskice says: “As the woman's flow of blood is stopped and her fertility restored (she is made fertile with faith), so Christ's flow of blood is turned from death to ‘new life’.” (“Blood and Defilement: Christology” in The Kindness of God, 2008, p97). Because of Jesus’ death – his blood shed for us – and his resurrection, we can step into the flow of new creation now!
