Week 11: Meet Your Redeemer: God’s Promise Through Ruth
The Old Testament narrative of Boaz and Ruth is a beautiful picture of redemption. It gives a wonderful parallel to how Jesus offers redemption to those who believe. It also provides a new title for Jesus: Kinsman-Redeemer. Take a look at the story. Boaz saw Ruth. Christ sees you. Boaz was affluent. Jesus owns every square inch of the universe. Boaz spoke kindly. Jesus is tender with you. Boaz told men to leave Ruth alone. Jesus commands Satan to leave you alone. Boaz gave Ruth water and bread. Jesus loads your life with blessings. Boaz represented the women with the city leaders. Jesus represents you in heaven. Because of Boaz, Ruth’s mother-in-law, Naomi, went from bitter to blessed. Because of Jesus, you can do the same. Just as Boaz chose Ruth, Jesus chooses you. There’s only one requirement. You must do what Ruth did. Place yourself at his feet. You must ask your Kinsman-Redeemer to take you into his care. Ask him to cover you with his garment of redemption.
