God's Plan With the NightSample
Receiving in the night.
Did you know that ⅓ of your life you spend sleeping? If you are 75 years old, that's 25 years! Imagine all the things God can do in that time!
It was never His intention for us to lay our heads on the pillow every night in ignorance, just to open our eyes after 8 hours to proceed with our lives. His desire is to come near to you and to give to His beloved in the sleep.
That is in dreams. God could have left it out when He made us, but He didn’t. I think God loves to take us away on an adventure during the night, far beyond our comprehension. Wait a minute: is every dream from God? No, not every dream is from God, but there is not one where He is not there. In Scripture, we read that God gives dreams to the ones searching to the believer to the doubter, and even the unbeliever. Dreams aren’t just for the wooly types or people with rich imaginations, but for everyone. It has nothing to do with your character but everything to do with how God has relation with us.
A beautiful example of our doubting heart is Solomon. After the encounter he had with God in his sleep, he woke up and thought to himself: ‘it was just a dream.’ The future, however, shows something different! That night Salomon received exactly what he asked for: heavenly wisdom to govern a whole nation and to bring peace and abundance back into the nation.
We see that throughout the whole Bible, God uses dreams to tell man what is in His heart. There is an entire variety of dreams to be found: dreams that give direction, encouragement, or warning. Predictive dreams and insightful dreams. Dreams that give a sign or dreams in which God gives a gift, like in Salomons. There is no limit to the dreams of God. That is why I find the word ‘dreams’ almost too limited. I’d rather call it nightly encounters. Because every time you receive something from God in the night, an encounter takes place between you and heaven. Our minds and understanding no longer dictate all that is possible. That is probably the exact moment God is waiting to give us certain things so we can receive them. Not with our mind, but with our heart.
The Bible describes a few great stories in which God gives something specific to the dreamer.
What do you want to receive in the night? Think outside the box!
