Parenting With CourageSample
Preparing to leave a legacy
One of the marks of a good leader is that they handoff successfully. I would like to do that well and leave a legacy behind. It must a rewarding thing to know that your life has made a difference in this world; that you have seen God’s kingdom established in your family. I’d also like to know that when my children have grown up and raised their own families that they are part of that inheritance.
We leave lasting impressions on our children whether we like to admit it or not. What a privilege and honor it is to be trusted by God to shape lives and impact the upcoming generation. From the moment they are conceived, you are already shaping a life.
You are able to leave an inheritance and heritage behind that will last for generations and possibly eternity. Follow these four steps to start your process in leaving a legacy for your children and your children’s children:
1) Choose to intentionally pray for your child on a regular basis.
2) Consider what type of legacy you want to leave behind in them.
3) Invest wisely through time, money, resources and love.
4) Give them the best inheritance possible — a living and active relationships with Jesus. It starts with you!
If you'd like to leave a legacy behind, it comes through prayer, planning and thought. It is a worthwhile investment.
