Day 5: Created, Male and Female, for God’s Glory and His Story

These days, I can’t imagine my life without my daughter. I would not trade her for the world, let alone for a son. God is not indiscriminate about who He does or does not place in our lives. From God’s vantage point, there is no higgledy-piggledy when it comes to the children He does or does not give us. The Lord knows the longings of our hearts, but He also knows the other side of the beautiful tapestry that He is weaving in our lives. My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord, and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. Scripture tells us children are a blessing, not boy children or girl children. And there is a special privilege in raising each one.

Little boys are future husbands and fathers. They are the leaders of future households and the heads of future families. They can be responsible for the spiritual prowess of their brood, leaving a legacy of godliness for future generations. Little girls are future wives and mothers. They can be responsible for instructing little children before God, the most important endeavor on earth. They are tools in God’s hands for the forming of human souls for the next generation that will propagate His Kingdom.

I see my daughter, and I am just so deeply thankful that it is God’s sovereign will that ordains my days instead of my own. My daughter was created just for me and my family. She is both my treasure and His. And I can’t imagine it any other way. Truly all His promises are yes and Amen.

Application: Pray to the Lord concerning your child’s future, their salvation, and His will for their life. Praise the Lord for the gift of your child and pray over the seasons of their life - infancy, toddlerhood, childhood, the teenage years, college, marriage, and then their own journey into motherhood or fatherhood.
