4 Keys to Growing Spiritual RootsSample
Key 2: Pray Continually.
Other than God’s Holy Spirit and His Word, prayer is the most powerful force available to us on the earth. And if you desire to grow spiritual roots, becoming rooted and grounded in Christ, then you will want to become a person of prayer.
What is prayer?
Prayer is conversation with God. It really is that simple. "Prayer" means pouring your heart out to God, telling Him everything that's on your mind, and hearing what He says in return. It is two-way communication and communion with the One who knows you best and loves you most.
When you pray, you encounter God personally. In prayer, you are very literally right before His throne.
You can save yourself a lot of agony and trouble if you invest your time in prayer.
When you pray, God will move in your life to make everything better. He will comfort you and give you peace. Hebrews 4:16 says clearly that our coming boldly before the throne of grace brings us mercy and grace to help in time of need.
Additionally, God will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go as you pray. And if you listen and obey Him, you will grow a stronger spiritual root system. You will grow simply through the discipline of tuning your ear to His voice and deciding to follow Him.
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges that we have.
The halls of history are filled with noteworthy men and women of God who became mighty through prayer. Stories abound about how some of the godliest, most fruitful people to ever walk the planet invested their time, first and foremost, in prayer.
Friend, if we will pray much, we will learn much. We will grow. We will develop more godly character every moment that we linger in the throne room. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, and there is a life-changing reason for that: because prayer brings us into communion with God.
Beloved, if you want to grow spiritual roots, become a person who prays continually.
