God's Heartfelt Desire for YouSample

God's Heartfelt Desire for You

DAY 1 OF 7

You only have one life.

“I feel like spilled water. My courage to live is soft as wax, melted away inside me. My throat is dry as a shard of pottery and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.” (Translation from the Basis Bible. Read comparable translation in Psalm 22:14-15 NIV.)

Thank you David, thank you! Again and again I am thankful for David, who manages to show us we are not alone with such emotions, even physical realities. Right?

"I feel like spilled water." Imagine that. You can’t put spilled water back in the bottle. You have to wipe it away.

Or: “Dry as a shard of pottery.” When firing a piece of pottery, the liquid is completely removed from it. It can't get any drier! If your throat is that dry, you can no longer speak. As David writes here: "My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth."

Yet David speaks precisely of wanting to use his voice! “I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you.” (Psalm 22:22 NIV)

As I read this passage, I became aware of something that has been moving my heart again and again lately: In his distress David did not forget the reason for his existence on earth. He forgot neither his mission nor the heavenly possibilities to get him out of his current troubling situation!

I recently read a quote from A.W. Tozer: “The Christian is a man from heaven living temporarily on earth.”

If we live with a heavenly attitude, then we will use our earthly life to tell of God's love at all times.

That was David's heart's desire in the midst of his weariness and need: “But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.” (Psalm 22:19 NIV)

He wanted to use this one life to tell people about God! Wow! THIS is also the reason we exist*! It is the desire of God’s heart. Do you want to make His desire YOUR desire today and use your voice?

People need to hear the truth that is in YOUR heart to silence the lie that is in their hearts.

You are a miracle!
