The Identity of Christ as the Light of the WorldSample
Day 5 Devotional:
Come to Christ, the Light of the World
Like the disciples, the neighbours, and the Pharisees in John 9, do we allow ourselves to be blind to the needs of God’s people in our midst? Like the Pharisees, do we get so caught up in our religious rules and rituals that we miss, and unconsciously depart from, the loving way of Christ that is at the heart of His gospel?
We live in a dark and broken world and we will never find our way or see the reality of God unless, through the gospel, Christ, the light of the world, becomes our true Light. He comes into our lives to dispel our darkness of sin and to empower us by His Holy Spirit for a lifetime of following Him in faith and obedience. He brings into our lives the inner spiritual power we need to overcome temptation and sin in our lives. He brings clarity of purpose and direction to our lives.
Christ, the light of the world, brings into our lives deep inner hope so that we can share this hope with the people in our world of family, work, and our neighbourhoods who are still blinded in the darkness of sin and hopelessness.
Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to bring you to respond to the real identity of Christ so that you have repented of your sin and placed your faith in Him?
Or have you, like the Pharisees, shut the eyes of your heart to the identity of Christ? If so, the good news of the gospel announces to you that today you can be healed forever of your spiritual blindness and lostness if, in humility, you allow the Holy Spirit to bring you to true repentance and faith in Christ.

About this Plan
John 9 presents to us, first, a revelation of the real identity of Christ, second, the different responses that people bring to Christ and His gospel, and third, the result of seeing the identity of Christ.
