God's Redemption Story (Judges - 2 Samuel)Sample
Gideon - 2/5
Gideon viewed himself through a lens of flaws. He was the youngest brother in the weakest family in a small tribe of Israel, an inconsequential nation regularly beaten up and run over by the surrounding bullies. So it’s more than a little surprising that the angel of the Lord would call him “mighty man of valor.” If we look closer, though, we see the angel wasn’t giving Gideon all the credit. The first words out of his mouth in Judges 6:12 are “The Lord is with you.”
Do you feel weighed down by your failures and weaknesses? When our enemy, Satan, is attacking us, we can’t defeat him on our own, but the good news of the gospel tells us we are mighty warriors like Gideon. Jesus already defeated the enemy—and sin and death—when he paid our price on the cross. We don’t ever need to feel weak or small or run over, because the Lord has saved us.
