Its Time to Smile AgainSample
Do you want to become happy AGAIN?
"Let me AGAIN experience the joy of your deliverance…" (Psalm 51:12 NET)
AGAIN: A little word with such a big meaning.
On the one hand, it means it is something you once experienced, and on the other hand, it also means you are not experiencing it right now.
So what does David want to tell us with this verse? First, that he knew it very well himself. And second, that you will experience it again, if—ah, the beloved little word IF—if you ask God for it and also believe in it!
Do you do that? Are you asking God to give you the joy that was once in your life AGAIN? Or do you use another little word that is even shorter, but all the more dangerous? The word: "But?”
"But" my situation is way too messed up... "but," the doctors think there is no hope.... "but" my marriage is already at the end.... "but" the depression has held me captive for far too long... "but" I've tried so many times... "but" my mistake, my great sin can’t be forgiven by God, I screwed up... What's your "but"?
I bet David can top your "but." Because he had really screwed up! His sin was huge. He had killed a human being! An innocent human being! "You are the God who saves me. I have committed murder. God, take away my guilt." (Psalm 51:14 NiRV)
Yet he was brave and humble enough to return to God and ask Him for new joy! If God granted him that wish, don't you think He wants to grant you your wish for joy too?
One thing it takes, maybe in your case too, is repentance. Asking for forgiveness. When we ask for forgiveness, we will automatically find new joy!
Do you want to do this in David's words?
"You are the God who saves me. I have committed murder. God, take away my guilt." (Psalm 51:14 NiRV).
You say, “You don’t take delight in sacrifice. If you did, I would bring it…The greatest sacrifice you want is a broken spirit. God, you will gladly accept a heart that is broken because of sadness over sin.” (Psalm 51:16 NiRV)
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10 NIV).“
"Let me AGAIN experience the joy of your deliverance…" (Psalm 51:12 NET)
AMEN!
You are a miracle!
