Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled LivingSample

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Romans 6:4
What is the significance of baptism? Baptism is an act of obedience that symbolizes that you have been joined with Jesus in his death and his resurrection. You are laying down your old life and coming alive as a new creation in Jesus Christ! You are no longer a slave to your sins. You have been given a new life!
As you read the passage from Romans 6 today, imagine “dead” things from your past going under the water. Imagine them buried in that watery grave. These may be sins of your youth, something you are embarrassed about, or choices you regret. Imagine rising out of the water with Jesus as a new creation. Imagine yourself now clean and pure and enjoying your new life in him.
As you pray, talk with Jesus about the emotions you are experiencing. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything you need to confess from your old life. Ask the Father to forgive you and continue bringing you new life.
