21 Days: Revive Us Again

DAY 1 OF 21

FOREWORD

We may have seen it in the news (or TikTok) in February 2023 – routine chapel service in Asbury University in Kentucky, USA, turned into a spontaneous worship and prayer session that lasted for over two weeks and attracted tens of thousands of people daily at its peak. People were saved, healed, and encountered the Holy Spirit.

Revival.
We may have sung it. Prayed for it. Declared it. We may have even asked God to bring revival

to us, and through us.
However, not all revivals are immediate or obvious.

In fact, most times, revivals are invisible, gradual, and start up quietly in the place that matters the most – in our hearts.

This Devotional Guide focuses on what it means, what it takes, and how to respond to the revival that God wants to bring about in us. Four principles underpin our readings:

One - revival is a supernatural work of God. We cannot bring about a revival ourselves. Only God can bring dead things back to life.

Two - revival is not resuscitation. God intends to restore us to a place that is better than where we were before.

Three - revival is God’s response to our hunger for Him. God can start a revival in us anytime and anywhere, but it begins with us making time to seek Him, posturing our hearts to receive from Him and committing our lives to obey Him.

Four - revival cannot be contained. A truly revived heart is one that overflows with passion and purpose for God, His people, and His work

DAY 1: ABUNDANT LIFE AWAITS

Reflection:

As Christians, we are in constant need of spiritual revival regardless of how “young” or “mature” we may be. Circumstances in life may cause us to become discouraged or disappointed, and monotonous seasons may leave us jaded and drained.

However, God does not desire us to go through the motions but to experience the fullness of life in Him. God is a giver and restorer of life. He wants to restore what has been lost, revive what has died, and give us life more abundantly.

More importantly, He can and will do this work in us anytime and anywhere. However, He can only work in a heart that allows Him full access and is hungry for Him.

At the same time, remember that revival will come, but the journey with God matters most.

Response:

Commit to yielding to the Holy Spirit as you embark on this 21-day journey, trusting Him to lead you into the abundant life He has promised.

Ask God to prepare your eyes to see what He wants to show you, your ears to hear His voice, and your heart to respond to Him.
