How Much Jesus Loves Us!

DAY 3 OF 3

Jesus will give you what you really need

When Jesus says: "Which of you will give a stone to his son who asks him for bread?", he concludes by saying "but you who are evil"...

He points out that even imperfect people can distinguish between bread and a stone near a fire, while the son cannot. How much more so can the heavenly Father! When you pray, you ask God for specific things, and sometimes God doesn't give you exactly what you want, because he knows what you really need.

You think that what you're asking for is like bread, that it will feed you, but God sees that it could "break your teeth". He knows the true nature of what you're asking for.

The biblical text of this plan is profound. It doesn't compare things that are obviously different, on the contrary, it speaks of bread and a stone - similar in appearance but one nourishes and the other hurts.

In prayer, we can be convinced that certain things will meet our immediate needs - for our family, our professional life, our married life, our life as a father or in our relationships. We think it's good for us, but God knows the difference between what's really beneficial and what's harmful.

This difference, which we find hard to make, God makes with certainty. My intention with this reading plan is to offer you another perspective, one that doesn't contradict our usual understanding, but invites us to take off our "21st-century glasses" and dive deeper into the context of the scriptures of the time.

Do you want to go further in the life of the Spirit? I am so convinced that my book Parables of the Night will help you understand God's language in your dreams, discern God's intentions, and interpret them, that I am offering you the first 3 chapters of the book! I invite you to click here to download.
