Thriving the Holidays: Practical Hope for Families of Addicts

DAY 1 OF 5

Holidays can be very triggering and difficult when we love someone in addiction, and the anxiety can ramp up all kinds of questions: What’s going to happen this year? Can we just cancel it? Will they cause a scene again?

The season brings a mix of feelings and stress, and we lose the joy and excitement the holidays should bring. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Over the next few days, we will discover tools to prepare for the holidays.

But before we do that, take some time today to write down any feelings or anxious thoughts you might have about the upcoming holidays. I also want you to begin to pray for God to guide and direct you through this season. Give yourself permission to know that this year may look different than past years have looked, and that will be okay.

This year you aren’t just going to survive the holidays—you’re going to THRIVE the holidays. Remember that God is with you and is for you and your family!
