3 Bad Reasons to Give (And 3 Good Ones)Sample

Hi friend! Each day, we will look at both a bad reason to give and a good reason to give.
So today, let’s start with the bad and get it out of the way!
Bad Reason to Give: Bribing God for Blessings
Did you ever hear about that guy, Simon, who thought he could buy his way into God’s Kingdom? Acts 8 tells his cringy story. It’s kind of like trying to buy friendship with money.
But here’s the deal: God’s not looking for our money; He’s after something way better—our hearts.
When we give, it shouldn’t be a spiritual handshake to seal a deal; it's a bear hug with God, saying, “I trust You with everything.”
Good Reason to Give: Expression of a Willing and Obedient Heart
You know that feeling when you’re so grateful you can’t help but do something about it?
That’s the heart of giving—it should be refreshing!
Malachi reminds us it's about being all in, diving deep into God's love, and coming up with hands ready to share it.
So this week, let's give like we're spreading joy, not like we’re paying bills.
Sound good?
Let's pray:
Lord, guide us to give not as a means to control or demand blessings but as a heartfelt response to Your abundant grace. May our giving be a true reflection of our obedience and willingness to serve You. Amen.
