Remembered for Good: The People of God

DAY 5 OF 5

Praise Be to God

The final way that people are remembered for good or leave a lasting positive impact on others is by prioritizing praise. This fundamental principle guides their actions. Such individuals are discerning rather than divisive, generously give of themselves, and spend time in communion with God and ministering to others.

Let’s explore how the grand treatise of Romans concludes. Despite the theological debates and controversies surrounding this book, it culminates not in conflict but in praise—a doxology. “Doxa” signifies glory, splendor, and grandeur, while “logos” refers to a word or teaching. Hence, a doxology is a glorious word, a beautiful conclusion to the book of Romans. You may be familiar with the doxology we sing in church: “Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above you, heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.” These lyrics, penned by Thomas Ken in 1709, encapsulate the essence of praise. Sing them to celebrate the conclusion of Romans.

The book of Romans is extensive—16 chapters, 433 verses, with many different theological themes running all throughout it. This book, often regarded as the pinnacle of literature, doctrine, and theology, has had an immeasurable impact throughout history. Many have carried its teachings, and I hope you, too, will carry them forward for future generations to behold. The key to being remembered for good is immersing ourselves in God’s Word and offering praise to Jesus. It is not so much that we know the Word, but that God knows us. He is the one keeping us and holding onto us even when we doubt, struggle, or want to let it all go.

Being remembered for good begins with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the assurance of eternal life through His sacrifice, and a commitment to live out our faith. By keeping the Word alive in our hearts and souls, we pass on a legacy that impacts the world for Christ. The more that we sit with Jesus and spend time with Him, the more that He changes us. In turn, we impact those around us. We become His hands and feet to others, ministering to them in the same way that others loved us and taught us because of Christ.

Day 4

About this Plan

Remembered for Good: The People of God

There are those who are remembered for good in Paul’s letter to the church in Rome, and those around us. By promoting unity, giving our lives away, and prioritizing praise, we too can leave a legacy worth remembering.
