Why the Nativity?

DAY 5 OF 5

Stable Peace in an Unstable World

The Everlasting Love of Christmas

Jesus Himself is the everlasting gift of Christmas. God now in flesh appearing! He is the answer to the needs of every person on earth, regardless of their ethnicity, place of origin, or status in life. He alone is our hope, and He alone can give us stability in an unstable and unsatisfying world.

An Unstable World

We’ve never been so aware of our precarious position on this planet. No wonder the world is so hungry for Christmas! The distraction of the holidays seems to momentarily obscure the conditions we face.

Yet the troubles are still there like mud and mire beneath the snow. As perfect as we sometimes think we are, we are not. We are unsteady people on an unstable planet. We cannot save ourselves. We need Someone to reach down with an almighty touch and rescue us from our fleeting world.

A Stable Peace

We love trying to picture it. But Jesus’ birth was more than a Kodak moment. It was a divine mission. He went forth in the power of the Spirit to complete His Father’s business. When He died on the cross, it wasn’t an accident of history. He was laying down His life for the sins of the world—for yours and mine.

Stable peace began in a cave in Bethlehem. The central truth of Christmas is found in the best-known verse in the Bible in John 3:16.

How do you find stable peace this Christmas?

First, acknowledge His reality. Jesus of Nazareth is not a mythical figure. We have strong attestation of Him both in the Bible and in other ancient resources.

Second, acknowledge your humanity. Every human being carries around a weight of sin and shame until we learn to bring it all to Jesus, who bore our sins and longs to forgive every single one of us of every single sin that weighs on our hearts.

Third, acknowledge His Lordship. The Bible says, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). You can do that now. In this way, you’ll find His stable peace in an unstable world.

Let’s travel back in time to experience the sights and sounds of that first Christmas story. Featuring stunning visuals, dynamic teaching, and riveting dramatic re-enactments, you’ll want to make watching Why the Nativity? a new holiday tradition! An unforgettable journey through the wonders of Christmas awaits you!
