PhilippiansSample

Paul touches on some very important things in his prayer for the Philippians in verses 9-11 that I believe we can apply to our own individual prayer life and how we should pray for the Church.
- As much love as the Philippians had and showed their love, it’s so important that they (and we) continue to grow in this love.
- Paul prays that the love we have would abound in knowledge and discernment. To love deeply without knowledge and discernment of what is “excellent” can be dangerous. Paul says to love with wisdom, sincere and without offense before the Lord, is what leads to being filled with the fruits of righteousness! What does this mean?
- John 15 talks about what it means to abide in Jesus. It is only through staying connected to Him, that we can truly be transformed in the process. Sanctification of our hearts is the result of God working in us. To be “filled with the fruits of righteousness”, is how we are to love others rightly and purely and with wisdom. As we stay connected to the branch of Life, we will produce fruit.
Some questions we can pray through: what would it look like for you to connect with Jesus? & how can we grow in our love for the church and His people?

About this Plan

The letter to the church in Philippi is an incredible example of what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in light of what was accomplished in Jesus' death and resurrection. This book is an essential text for the church as we seek to live the way of Jesus in practice.
