Like Jesus: Being Sanctified Is a Glorious ProcessSample
Like Jesus: Being Sanctified is a Glorious process - The Process of Being Sanctified is only by the Holy Spirit.
The scripture says in Exodus 29:1, “this is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests”. Exodus 36 says “and anoint it to consecrate.” Exodus 40:13 says, “then dress Aaron in the Sacred garments anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest.”
I Thess 5:23 says, “the God of peace sanctifies you through and through, may your whole spirit, soul, body be kept blameless at the coming of our lord Jesus Christ.”
Four Stages of Sanctification:
1. Sanctification Has a Definite Beginning at Regeneration.
2. Sanctification Increases Throughout Life.
3. Sanctification is Completed at Death (for Our Souls) and When the Lord Finally Calls Us Home.
4. Sanctification is Never Completed in This Life. This involves Our Intellect. Our Emotions. Our Will and Our Spirit.
The Holy Spirit uses the Word to do His work within the believer:
Let us distinguish between the sanctification by the Holy Spirit within us at the beginning of God’s work of salvation in our souls, and the everyday application of God’s word in the Christian’s life. We are in need of daily sanctification by the truth of God’s Word. This is a progressive work that will go on in our lives until we are presented perfect in Christ, till we meet the Lord.
Paul highlighted the Holy Spirit's role with repetition of the phrase “by the Spirit” in Galatians 5:16,18, 25, He used the phrase “sanctified by the Holy Spirit.” In Roman 15:16, and in Romans 8:13 he said it is “by the Spirit” that we are able to “put to death the deeds of the body.”
Wanting to live a life holy and pure, we are aware of the catalyzing power of the Holy Spirit, always empowering and propelling to a new level of sanctification. All we need to ask of the power of the Holy Spirit, is to lead and guide. In the pages of Scripture, we have plenty of examples modeled for us.
Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
We receive power to live a sanctified life, not only for us but also for the world around us, emanating the fragrance of God’s sanctifying work in us.
