Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 10Sample
As we start out in Paul’s second letter to Timothy there are a few things we can consider. Paul refers to the kind of faith he is certain exists in Timothy’s spirit. Timothy has a bright future ahead of him as well as some great challenges. Paul assures Timothy that victory is possible because of the gracious gift of Christ!
This gracious gift is the Holy Spirit and forgiveness of our sins whilst being clothed in a new identity in Christ.
As much as we become aware of the power of the Spirit in us, we realize that everything doesn’t come together perfectly at once. This is a process that has been set in motion so that we can learn to walk, talk, and act like Christ.
It’s God’s desire that we embrace the truth so that it will set us free! Every time we get confronted with lies about our salvation, our identity, or our nature we get to respond with the truth! Thus we need to guard our thoughts, testing them against what the Bible says and rejecting any thoughts that aren’t in line with the Word. If God is love and we were created in His image, it only makes sense that love is the expression of this process. The Holy Spirit is nurturing and shaping us from a place of love and this love pours into our actions and can be a beautiful way of measuring if something is good.
The more we practice this ability, the more it affirms our faith in God the Father and this process can repeat itself many many times as our faith grows ever stronger and stronger.
