Promises: My Time Is in Your Hands
God is in complete control of all things. His sovereignty is not delegated or shared. He is intimately involved in the day-to-day affairs of my life. My days are in his hands.
Psalm 31:14-15a
But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands.
All the days of my life are recorded in God’s book “before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16). He knows where I will be and when I will be there. He knows when my last breath will be taken. My life will not be “cut short.” My days are in his hands.
The fear of uncertainty flows from our limited images of God. Some view him as a hand-wringing God who would like to help us but isn’t able to. Many picture him as the “Great Clockmaker” who winds up history and allows time to run its course. However, the psalmist tells us that our God is worthy of our trust. All our days are in his hands.
Father, I don’t pretend to understand all the things that happen in my life, but I can say with the psalmist, “I trust in you.” I declare in faith that you are my God, and my time is in your hands. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
