Preparing to Meet Jesus

DAY 5 OF 5

Making Ourselves Ready

Abraham’s parental leadership beautifully parallels the heavenly Father’s desire to secure a Bride for His Son.

Just as Abraham sent his servant to look for a godly match, God the Father sends His Spirit into the world to find a fitting Bride for His Son. But the choice of whether or not to “go with this Man” (Genesis 24:58) is ours.

Once we decide to be all that the Father desires in a Bride for His Son, we must follow through with a commitment that results not in a four-hundred-mile trip, but in a lifelong journey of faith. And every step of the way, the Father’s Servant, the Holy Spirit, will guide, protect, instruct, and strengthen us until that glorious day when He presents us to the Son as the one the Father has chosen to be His Bride.

While you and I can rest assured of the heavenly Father’s love for us, will we be a Bride that is pleasing to His Son? We don’t have to guess. We don’t have to live in fear that He might be disappointed in us. He won’t be!

While no one is perfect, it is possible for saved sinners to pursue lives of utter devotion and abandonment to the One who loves us and gave Himself for us—lives that reflect the beauty of His character in ways that are obvious to those around us--lives lived for His pleasure, approval and blessing.

It’s time to move our faith from salvation to transformation in order to be a Bride who “has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7). “And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.” (1 John 2:28)

When you see Jesus face to face, what will you wish you had done differently this week? What regrets will you have? What is one practical way you can “make yourself ready” to see Jesus, so that when you do, you are not ashamed? Do it now.

We hope this plan encouraged you. Learn more about Preparing to Meet Jesus by Anne Graham Lotz & Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright here.

Day 4

About this Plan

Preparing to Meet Jesus

Explore a love story…of a father who sought a bride for his son—a bride who would enter into a world of wealth and privilege as one chosen and beloved. It’s the Old Testament story of Abraham sending his servant to seek a bride for his son Isaac. This is a beautiful allegory of our heavenly Father who seeks a bride for His Son.
