Strong as a MotherSample
Ezra 10:4 Arise, for it is your task, and we are with you; be strong and do it.
Read that again! This scripture is filled with gusto. You should know that this call out to Ezra did not come at an easy moment in his life. Ezra had set out to rebuild the temple and faced fierce opposition and tough decisions. I bet you’ve felt that way a time or two in your life. Probably a time or two this week. In moments of intense pushback, there can be a tendency to just sit back and let the situation play out. But you are stronger than that! If I could paraphrase this scripture with a cry over you today, I would say: “Get up, girl! And handle your business.” Have the tough conversation. Hold the line with that teenager. Solve the problem. You have God-given authority, smarts, and power.
Before we go today, let’s not miss that little refrain in the middle of this scripture? “...we are with you…” No one, not one of us, is intended to do life on our own. Who is with you? Who are you supporting? We are women who lean on one another and hold each other up. Today, I want to invite you to strengthen your circle prayerfully.
Father God, thank You for Your strength rising in me today. I know that You have given me strength for the task at hand. I give You every feeling of apathy. Fill me with passion. And God, who is missing from my circle? I ask for the humility to reach out today. Amen
