Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8Sample
Today we will be reading from Luke 21 verses 1-4. Jesus had just cleansed His temple and was observing the people as they brought their offerings. In the crowd He notices a poor widow dropping her last two coins in the offering chest, and then He proceeds to bring the entire gathering to a halt. “Truly I say to you, she has given more than the rest of you, for she gave everything she had left and you only a portion of your surplus, making not sacrifice.”
I want to highlight two things from this passage: one - the Father's heart for us; and two - the Father's hope for us.
We serve a God who sees us. Who you are, what you do, and how you give never goes unnoticed. He looks at the heart, and His evaluation differ from the world’s. Nothing laid down at His feet is insignificant.
His hope for us is that we will give extravagantly. That we will be generous with all the different things He has given us, surrendering all our means of self-reliance to Him. Be extravagant in the way you share your time, your patience, your kindness, and your money, so that your faithfulness will be evident to those around you.
Make this your truth! You are not overlooked! Let Him search your heart today and show you where you can be more generous. Let Him minister to you when you surrender all that is left to Him.
