HOMESample
I’m so glad we’re on this journey together. We’re learning how to be at Home in the fellowship of our heavenly Father by doing the things Jesus modeled for us throughout His time on earth. Today’s discipline is what Dallas Willard calls “secrecy.”
In secrecy, we refrain from making sure people know the impressive things we have done. In this practice, we may even take steps to prevent things from being known. And we do this to help us lose or tame the hunger for fame or admiration or justification.
The more we embrace secrecy, the more we learn to love to be unknown. We accept misunderstandings without the loss of peace or purpose. And we experience a relationship with God independent of the approval of others.
If you wrestle with approval addiction, welcome this practice into your life with open arms, and ready yourself for the freedom that secrecy brings you. Welcome Home.

Today’s invitation:
Today, pray others around you will be more outstanding than you are. More praised. More used by God than yourself. Ponder how different our world would be if Christians regularly did this for each other.
Let your word for today by anonymity. Look for good things to do that other people won’t know about. Look for favors that can be done without credit. And all the while, trust in knowing that God sees all of it.
