When All Hope Seems LostSample
The Floodgates of Tears Came Pouring
There was a time when my husband and I were feeling the horrendous effects of years of poor financial decisions. Our refrigerator was empty. We were terrified of utility trucks because we were receiving cut-off notices. We were afraid to ask for help or let people know just how deep the waters of life were raging. Our marriage was struggling. We wanted to back out of everything we were a part of. We did not know how to move forward – or if we were at a point of no return. We were barely hanging on in almost every aspect of life.
I will never forget the day my mom dropped me off at home after spending the day together and there was a bright yellow notice attached to our front door. My knees instantly started shaking. What if she saw it? What could it be THIS time? After running to the door to hide the notice of a late payment in my purse, my stomach swelled, and my tears suddenly let loose like a burst pipe as soon as I said goodbye and closed the door.
We were sinking. We felt hopeless. We did not know what to do next.
Finally, we realized that we were not listening to God. We were not talking to Him. We had years of poor financial decisions to figure out and we did not put God first during these years. We were trying to do things in our own strength, and it was not going very well, to say the least.
I do not know if you feel like you are sinking today. Perhaps you feel your head is barely above water while paying bills or in the lack of communication in your marriage. Perhaps depression or anxiety is taking a toll on you, and you are afraid to ask for help.
Today, I want to encourage you to seek help. Call out to God in the struggles. Ask Him to intervene. Ask Him for guidance. I can promise you – He will never abandon you. Pour out your heart to Him today. Let the floodgates down and have a good cry. Fill your heart and mind with Scripture. Call out to Him, friend – He is listening.
Prayer:
Father, today I pray for the beautiful soul that feels like all hope is lost. I pray that You would intervene in their life. Please encourage their heart today. Please give them the strength they need to seek help or ask for guidance. Please calm their heart right now and give them a sense of comfort.
