PhilippiansSample

These verses are nothing less than challenging when you realize Paul’s circumstances while writing them. He is expressing his gratitude for God, his friends, and what he’s learning all while being chained up in prison. One of the things I love the most about this story is that God is revealing His character to us through Paul’s story. The focus here is not only on the gift but also the giver. While Paul does very much appreciate the church giving him resources to help on his journey, he more so celebrates the fact that it was given out of love and worship for God. Maybe another way to say this is the “why” behind the “what.” Paul is encouraging his friends that their intentional generosity has not gone unnoticed by him or by God, and that God will also bless them with His riches through Jesus. Take heart today as you remember that your deepest needs have been supplied through Jesus.
Prayer points:
- Ask - Bring your honest requests to God and tell Him what you need—He is your provider!
- Act - Ask God how you can bless someone today. Whether it’s an uplifting text, a thoughtful gift, or helping with a practical need. You have the opportunity to worship God by encouraging others!
