YAHWEH
More than a title
Often times, when we are speaking about God or speaking to God, we use titles that describe who He is. We say God, Father, Lord, etc. These are titles that represent him. There’s something very profound that happens when you use a person’s name.
It is only in Your name that we are saved
One of my biggest passions is spending time in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. This is a place where people usually lock their doors, look straight ahead and drive through the area as quickly as possible, even if it means going through a red light. For me, I love to pull over and spend time making new friends and visiting old friends that I’ve made over the years that call those streets home.
You are my provider
The one who brings me peace
Even in the fire
Your love will comfort me
Of course, we began to organically learn the names of the friends we were making. When we would yell their names from across the street to get their attention they would turn around beaming. They would be so overwhelmed with emotion that someone not only was paying attention to them, but knew them by name. Using someone’s name shows value and genuine friendship.
God has a name. His name is Yahweh
Yahweh Yahweh Yahweh
It’s only in Your name Yahweh
Yours is the Kingdom
Yours is the power
Yours is the glory forever and ever
The power and holiness that is attached to the name Yahweh was too much for people. People were afraid to say his name because of the holiness attached to it. Because of Jesus being our mediator, we now have right relationship with Yahweh. We can now boldly come to Him, knowing that He sees us through Jesus. He knows each of us by name and we know Him by name. What a beautiful thing that we can know each other so intimately.
