Becoming a Son That Pleases the FatherSample
DON’T GLORY IN PHYSICAL CREDENTIALS (1)
Philippians 3:3-4
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
In the passage above Paul, said he had things in the flesh that he could put his confidence in, but he chose not to depend on those things. Let’s look at a scenario: if you were a trained electrician and you were appointed to be the maintenance manager of the church, will you pray before servicing the equipment? Most likely not! There is a very high probability for experts not to depend on God in the area of their expertise. If God calls you to preach and you are naturally an orator or an English professor, will you depend on your command of English or will you kneel, wait upon God, and ask Him for help?
It is a dangerous thing to bring natural confidence to the things of the anointing. The Bible described Moses as mighty in words and deeds, but there was a time God asked him to go and speak to Pharaoh and he replied that he couldn’t talk (Exo. 4:10). This was because God had brought Moses to a place where he no longer depended on his abilities so that God could use him. Let God bring you to a place where you don’t depend on your abilities or credentials but on Him alone. In the world, your abilities may profit you for some time, but in the Kingdom, greatness is achieved by more dependence on God.
PRAYER: Father, I do not glory in my physical credentials. I have no confidence in my flesh. Holy Spirit, help me to depend on the Father alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
