Real Hope: A Call to CourageSample
Courage To Just Keep Swimming
In the movie Finding Nemo, there’s a jellyfish scene with Dory and Marlin. They were given directions to swim through the dark trenches and not over them, but as they got to the trenches, it seemed like a better idea to swim over the clear open waters than the dark scary crevasses of the trenches. But what seemed like the easy path at the time, led them into a life-threatening smack of jellyfish for the two little fishes to swim through.
Sometimes the first step is the hardest – it’s the moment where fear, doubt and uncertainty stand in front of us and we’re tempted to find other ways or shortcuts to solve the problem instead of trusting the process. They may not be wrong ways, but they may be unnecessary pains that become lessons we learn from.
God is so kind to give us the choice to take whichever path we face. Whether we go over it, whether we turn to the left or to the right – whichever way we walk, we walk in faith because there is no path that God is not there with us.
If we lean into knowing this – we may not be too fearful of what will be in front of us. We live to tell the tale of our war wounds and help others along the way.
If courage is what we desire, be ready to step into all sorts of trenches and jellyfish, knowing that God will go through them with us.

About this Plan
As Christians, we are called to courage. To face circumstances and situations that are uncertain, maybe painful and possibly surrounded by fear. But the amazing thing is, we do not do this alone, and we do not take the step of courage ill-equipped. We can step with confidence trusting that God has already triumphed. In this plan, we explore courage and the faithfulness of God.
