The Now Generation LeaderSample
Taking Ownership
What does it mean to “own up” to something?
There will times as a young leader that you will be asked to do something you don’t necessarily want to do, such as a boring project or extensive paperwork. Although these tasks seem pointless and unimportant, remind yourself that you have an opportunity to set an example for others around you.
When is the last time you embraced a project as a whole? It can be fun to take on the easy tasks or the ones that get you the most attention, but the true example of leadership is taking on the tasks that no one wants to do. You have the choice to step up and take charge, or let the opportunity go to waste. Remember what you are working toward and use that to motivate you forward.
Challenge: A good leader will own up to the entirety of a job. Make a list of three ways you can take action and step in different areas of your life such as school, clubs, a job, or even at church.
About this Plan
As a young adult, you are not the leader of tomorrow. You are the leader of today. In this 14-day plan, the Life.Church LeadershipXP team will provide practical, biblical advice to help young leaders develop into the leader Christ has created them to be. Each day includes a practical challenge aimed to help put what you learn through your reading into practice.
