DAY 2 OF 4

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus proclaims the good news that He has brought the Kingdom of God to Earth (Mark 1:15). If Jesus said the Kingdom of God is already here, why do we still ask for His Kingdom to come (Matt. 6:33)? It can be difficult for us to wrap our minds around how the Kingdom is “already, but not yet.” To fully grasp the joy of this message, we must first understand what the Kingdom of God is.

In broad terms, the Kingdom of God describes God's sovereign rule and reign over every aspect of creation. We see His majesty stretch across oceans – His authority established over the Earth. In His wonder and might, it is incredible that God entrusted man with dominion in the Garden of Eden. He desired that communion with us from the beginning of creation. Although humanity's sin has separated us from God’s original design for us to partake in His Kingdom in the Garden, God promised His authority would once again rule and reign on the Earth. At the end of time, all of Heaven and Earth will bow in reverence to the triune God – to the authority given to King Jesus by the Father (Matt. 28:18), and to the power of the Spirit of God (Luke 24:49, John 14:15-17).

Anyone who believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God and repents of their sins can enter into the Kingdom of God (Matt. 4:17, Matt. 7:21). In the “Sermon on the Mount” in Matthew 5:1-12, Jesus describes qualities and attitudes of those belonging to the Kingdom in a list called the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes encourage believers to rejoice in qualities which may appear as weaknesses, but the Kingdom of God turns everything we think about how the world should work upside down.

To find your home in the Kingdom of God means to prepare your heart for the Kingdom that is coming by living a life that reflects the love of Jesus to others here and now.

About this Plan

HOME

Home can mean different things to different people. For followers of Jesus, this world is not our home. Over these next four days, we will be exploring what it means to live as citizens of Heaven here on earth, preparing for the coming of our King.
