Women Who Struggle With LustSample
Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Lust takes many forms, but one of the most common is wanting something to be yours before it is meant to be yours. Lusting after the future can happen when we want to take our next step in life, whatever it is. You also could be longing for the weekend, living for your next vacation, wishing the days away instead of embracing and finding joy where you are. Finding joy can be especially difficult to do if you do not like your place of employment, are going through a breakup, or are grieving a death or disappointment.
But while you go through those times in life, God is with you establishing your next steps. We can try to take control and plan our course, but as the Proverb above says, the Lord is going ahead of us. When we lust and try to push through to the next thing that will make us happy, we are not submitting to God and allowing Him to lead in our lives. Maybe we do not have what's next because we are not ready for what's next, maybe God is protecting us, or perhaps we can admit we don’t know everything and could be wrong about what we think will be good for us. Let’s pray today that God can give us the patience to wait for what He has in store for us.
Prayer: Dear God, we pray for patience in our lives while we wait, while in the midst of the unknown, or even when we are excited about what is to come. We thank You for caring about Your people and creating a way for us to move. We pray to embrace where we are and see You daily in our everyday lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
