How to Ignite Your LifeSample
We Were Saved to Share Our Faith
It's so easy to paraphrase scripture and hang our hats on the scriptures that best fit our comfort level. Ephesians 2:8-9 in isolation tells us: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of works, lest any man should boast. That would seem to get you off the hook for doing anything more than accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. But the very next verse (Ephesians 2:10) shatters that thought by saying: For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. While we’re not saved by works, we are saved for good works, most importantly living for God’s work, leading people to Him.
You won't ever find something better than knowing you led people to Christ.
Everything else pales in comparison with leading one person to the Lord. Luke 15:10 echoes that viewpoint from Heaven: In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
It’s mind boggling and so dwarfs whatever problems and victories are capturing your emotions at this moment. And it’s always and forever a ‘team sport,’ knowing every salvation is preceded with multiple team members doing their part. Most of the time we won’t know the fruit we bear until we get to Heaven!
But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him. And put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet. Bring here the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. For this son of mine was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' So they began to be merry. -Luke 15:22-24, MEV
