Feeling Stuck?Sample
The Big Problem
Answer this question: “What’s the problem with the world today?”
Do you even know where to start? There’s famine, disease, corruption, war, and natural disasters. There is only one true problem. Everything else is just a symptom.
That problem is sin.
In the original Greek, sin means “to miss the mark.” The issue is, we treat sin like I used to treat brushing my teeth as a kid. My mom told me to brush my teeth every night before going to bed. But I wasn’t interested in that, so I faked it. I’d run the water and get my toothbrush just wet enough to pass my mom’s thumb check.
The problem is, many of us are faking it when it comes to sin. We know how to act the part. We’re great at putting on a show. But on the inside, our hearts and hands are unclean. Sin is a problem. It’s responsible for our broken relationship with God. It is the number one reason why so many of us are stuck! Sin creates a giant gap between God and us; so big that crossing it would be like trying to leap across the Grand Canyon. On our own, we’re hopeless in our sin. As we learned yesterday, through Jesus, we can be right with God. And when we become right with God, the only true path for becoming right with each other—and even with ourselves—emerges.
As Jesus said, He is “the way, the truth, and the life.” In short, Jesus is the only way to become OK in every area of life.
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
