Finding the Light in FearSample
DAY 6
PROTECTION
I’m grateful to have you back today. This week we have studied Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were officials for King Nebuchadnezzar. So far in our study, we see a display of faith that comes through an unseen and unknown assurance that God is ABLE.
The world around Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is crumbling down as they are thrown into a fire alive. The conditions surrounding them are so dangerous that even the strongest soldiers commanded to bind them and throw them in the fire have died. Yet, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are at peace because of their faith and assurance that God is ABLE.
As we closed yesterday, I asked if you have been able to find that unseen and unknown kind of faith—faith in knowing God is ABLE but not understanding how.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego displayed faith in our story as they were thrown into the fire while the soldiers died around them. Today, we get to understand how God provided protection. Let us read Daniel 3:24-25:
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” 25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
King Nebuchadnezzar was unable to deny God’s power. He knew there was some Divine intervention protecting Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
In today’s Scripture, we see God’s promise to protect His believers (Isaiah 43:2) coming into action.
There is a saying that is often said, “God will never allow you to go through more than you can handle.” The truth is that there is no direct reference to this in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 10:13 is a verse commonly used to relay this message, but it has more meaning. Nevertheless, you may encounter something so hard to handle alone. However, with faith, you can confront ANY adversity, including fear.
Today’s Scripture describes God delivering Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from danger and providing them protection and comfort in a blazing fire meant to kill the men.
As you face fear with an assurance of faith that God is ABLE, God will be with you, unbinding you from the captivating fear, protecting you from danger, and providing comfort and peace.
I look forward to our last day of study tomorrow as we look at being untouched by fear and the danger it holds.
