Finding the Light in God's "No!"

DAY 6 OF 7

DAY 6

PEACE

Welcome back! Today is day six in our 3 Minutes A Day Series on God’s “No!” I hope you have found some strength to move forward if you are experiencing a moment of God’s “No!” to your prayers.

We have learned this week that Jesus was given the answer of “No!” by God. He fulfilled Scripture when He was crucified and resurrected. God strengthened Jesus as He shared His desires with Him but allowed God to hold all authority.

Today, our focus is understanding Jesus’ demeanor as He moved forward in God’s Will over His life. In the strength Jesus received from God, He could have peace and compassion on those against Him.

Before this week’s Scripture, Jesus understood the future He was facing, and we saw the anguish it was causing Him. He tried to surround Himself with people who could support Him and tried praying to God for a change in course. He was in so much misery that His sweat was like blood while praying.

However, Jesus moved forward in God’s Will while being given over to the hands of the enemy, and He was filled with strength and peace.

Jesus did not fight the enemy but was peaceful with them. He was so peaceful that when one of His followers cut off the high priest’s servant’s ear, Jesus demanded peace and healed the servant’s ear (Luke 22:50-51).

He also showed compassion for His enemies. As He was crucified, Jesus prayed:

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34

Through Jesus’ story and example, we may not always be excited about God’s Will over our situation. However, as we come to accept it, we find peace in our souls moving forward. Jesus’ demeanor changed from affliction to peace as He moved forward in God’s Will. He was strengthened through prayer and was able to fulfill Scripture.

I’ll see you back here tomorrow as we wrap up our week, revealing purpose in God’s Will.

For now, I leave you with this: God can strengthen us as we move forward. But the peace we feel as we move forward comes from accepting God’s Will over our life. It’s giving back authority to God and allowing His possible “No!” to have a purpose in our life.
