Jesus is born! What a game-changing day. Something incredible about Jesus' birth is that it was announced to shepherds before anyone else. That may not seem remarkable, but it is actually very significant. Shepherds were considered to be lower class. They were dirty, young, and often forgotten. Announcing Jesus' birth to them was God's way of telling others that he sees people differently than we do. God sees all people equally regardless of their earthly status. Have you ever felt forgotten or less than everyone else? Take note of this and be encouraged. God looks at the heart of a person, not the outside.
Challenge: Think of all the people in your life. Is there anyone you have treated as “less than” because of their appearance or status? Take a second today just to pray for that person. Ask God to help you to love them even when it's hard.
Go Deeper: Identify one kind thing you can do for that person this week to show them God's love- then go out and actually do it!
