Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample

Needed: A Conduct Check
Has it ever occurred to you that media advertising exists to make us believe that we really must have what we already know we really do not need? To be content is to spend more time in the presence of God, saying, “Thank You,” and less time saying, “Give me.”
For a long time, my prayers to God were centered around everything that I wanted Him to give me. But I realized that I can have everything if I simply obey ‘Matthew 6:33’. And guess what, it worked wonders for me! This tension between covetousness and contentment is what is at the heart of the teaching of Jesus who says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” If we look at the previous verses we see that God assures us of our value.
If we would trust God to supply our needs and take the time we spend worrying about how to get something more, and just turn that time into serving God, what a difference that would make. The Bible does not teach against having an ambition, or aspiring to a better life, or enjoying the best things this world can offer. We need to be careful of the amount of time we spend seeking these things, that we leave no time to seek after God. That is exactly how covetousness leads us away from contentment.
The things that are most important in life will only come when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. As we run after God and follow Him, all our needs will be met.
Prayer
Thank You Jesus for everything. Today, I choose to be content. I hold on to Your promises and trust that everything I need will be added unto me according to Your riches in glory, as I seek You first. Amen.
