DAY 12 OF 21

Be Generous

In every season we have something to give. Even if we feel absolutely spent financially or emotionally, there is still something in us to give. It will refresh both the receiver and the giver. Kind words, encouragements, a helping hand, a loving spirit, and cup of coffee— most of those are nearly free and all of those we’re capable of doing. Generosity isn’t ever about money, it’s about a heart of abundance, a bounty of goodwill extended to those around us regardless if they pay or praise us back. The best part about giving is just that, giving. Without any strings attached, simply an offering from the heart.

When we’re generous with our time, talent, and treasure, we remind our heart it’s not all about us. We’re blessed in this life. It doesn’t matter how much we do or don’t have. We can be like Christ, generous and kind. We can believe we’re enough. That Christ is enough. He is our Sustainer and Giver of good things. A sense of lack doesn’t have to define us.

May we lavish on others our prayers, meals at our kitchen table, and dollars to efforts and people that need them. It's in generosity we come fully alive. We're far more blessed than the receiver (Acts 20:35). We will spend ourselves on one thing or another, we might as well go full steam ahead with a joyful and generous heart. A generous life leads to the refreshment of our hearts and souls. Proverbs 11:25 tells us, “Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”

No matter our season we have something to give. It won’t deplete us; it will enrich us as we’re being made each day to be more like Christ. The women we were always destined to be.
