Positioned for PurposeSample
Step 3: Elimination
Being positioned for purpose sometimes means letting go. This is probably the least fun step, but it is important to get rid of the noise, bad habits, negativity, toxic traits, and distractions--anything keeping you from walking out your purpose.
We have to make room for whatever God is bringing into our lives for our purpose. To truly position ourselves, we need to make sure that we are doing our part in decluttering all the places and spaces in our lives that would otherwise hinder walking out our destiny.
Decluttering
If your calendar is so full you meet yourself coming and going, if you find yourself running from thing to thing to thing, if you get to the end of the day and wonder where it went, maybe it is time to look at what is really necessary in your life.
Maybe your mind is jumbled and in need of some housekeeping. If you are overwhelmed by your thoughts, if they tend to be negative or critical, take every thought captive to the mind of Christ like it says in 1 Corinthians 10:5. Separating ourselves from the lies of the enemy helps make room for the thoughts and imaginings of God that are connected both to him and our purpose.
Our souls may also need some clearing out. Roots of resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness have to be pulled out and cleaned up to create margin for God's seeds of purpose and destiny to have room to grow and blossom.
If we don't make room for purpose, we might miss out on God's best for us. He has so much blessing, favor, and honor for us along the way as we seek his will for our lives. Don't let the enemy convince you to hoard all those lies and ugly thoughts--get rid of them and start really living!
Prayer: Father, I need you more than ever to help me let go of things in my life that are holding me back from your higher purpose. Help me rid my calendar of everything that doesn't align with your will for me, take every thought captive, and get rid of all the soul baggage that I have been carrying for far too long. I don't want anything to come between us or stand in the way of the unique destiny you have called me to. Thank you for guiding me in my walk with you; in Jesus' name, amen!
